Fibromyalgia: My Long, Arduous Journey by Sherry Williams

I was an athletic, horse trainer/rancher. I loved hiking, mountain climbing, swimming, and rollerblading into my 40’s. Then I was rear ended by a driver doing around 50 km/h, 10 months later hit again. That time, I sustained a brain injury, developed chronic pain, Fibromyalgia and then arthritis.

I had gone back to school with a goal of being an arts professor when all this happened. It delayed my degree by 15 years. I cannot begin to describe the struggle of trying to build my life back. My left side is about 50% weaker than the right. Dr’s want me medicated. I tried it all and decided to go a more natural route. It has been a long, arduous journey.

The good things were when my body gave out, I turned to my voice and became a professional singer. I eventually started to paint again. My advice to anyone with Fibromyalgia – do your work. Clean up your diet, heal your mental/ emotional self as best you can. Reduce stress, SLEEP!!
