About Me

My name is Angelique Gilchrist. I am a mother of 3 children, two daughters aged 26 and 22, and a son aged 14.  I have a very supportive, loving partner and if it was not for him, I would not be able to face each day with the strength needed.

My beautiful family

I have suffered from Fibromyalgia since 2009. You can read about my story under “My Long Journey to Diagnosis“. I wish I could end it there but as all Fibromyalgia patients know, there are numerous other conditions that co-exist with Fibromyalgia.  So here is a complete list of all my co-existing conditions:-

  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Restless legs syndrome
  • Obstructive sleep apnea
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Temporomandibular disorder (TMD)
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Tension and Migraine Headaches
  • Depression
  • Costochondritis
  • Leaking heart valve
  • Asthma

Of course as new conditions arise and are labelled “part of Fibromyalgia”, they will be added to the list.

I used to have a very fulfilling career, however Fibromyalgia stole that from me and now I am unable to work. Fibromyalgia has destroyed every part of my life and I am no longer the person I used to me. There was me prior to Fibromyalgia, and there is me now.

My main reason for starting Fibro Ramblings was to raise Fibromyalgia awareness, and to educate people where necessary. Fibromyalgia is not a well known condition and is very misunderstood.  As a result of this, many people suffer unnecessarily at the hands of doctors, family members, friends and the public in general. Millions of people around the world suffer from this dreadful, debilitating condition. There is no cure for it and it is considered a life long condition. Celebrities like Morgan Freeman and Lady Gaga also suffer from Fibromyalgia and I am hoping that with the added publicity, a cure will soon be found.

If I am able to help just one person with my blog, then I will be happy to have made a difference.
